Mary Todd Lincoln Story In The Past

The story of Mrs. Mary Todd Lincoln who was badly in need of a new home was like a breath of spring that came to bring joy and hope to all the abandoned animals.

In the past, people called her Minnie. When Minnie arrived at Best Friends, they immediately recognized she was special. She didn’t get on well with men, maybe because of her fear. But once they introduced her to all of the positive-reinforcement training and affection, a more sociable and happy dog emerged from behind that mask.

Getting through those first few months proved challenging for everyone. But with the help of her volunteers and staff, Minnie was finally able to open her heart up to her rescuers, enough to create one special forever home!

That was when Minnie found two men whom she knew they would be her new family. They're just as important now in helping keep this little girl safe and feel loved.

Her family recently sent the following update that we just couldn't keep from sharing. Indeed, happy dog adoption will warm your heart.

Updates On Mary Todd Lincoln's Life Now

Mary Todd Lincoln's new father, Luke Hogan, says that she seems to be getting better and better in the new home. He also sent a photo about a day at their home before Christmas when she was romping outside in the field with the family dog.

It can't be imaginable that it only took them seven months to get her into our family! From the first moments there with them, it was very apparent that she felt a certain sense of belonging as if she were part of their own family.

Luke also shares that she really likes road travels (she is excited any time she gets to be in the car) in the summer as well as in Christmas when they decided to take her along to visit St. Louis.

"When we first met up with friends and family, there was no need for introductions or formalities – she was so friendly that it was almost as if she already knew every member of our party even though we'd only just arrived.” Luke said.

Luke expresses that he is more than happy to share all of the fun activities he has been doing with Mary Todd and how great to have her in their circle. They originally thought their home was already pretty dog-friendly for a few reasons.

They have an extra-large yard, so there's plenty of room to run and play in - which she certainly enjoys! But the best thing is that one of them is always home to play with her. Their new canine family member can get her filled with affection anytime she wants it.

Conclusion
